Empowering Youth through Basketball Camps
Michael Cooper's (former Los Angeles Lakers) Basketball Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, aims to empower inner-city youth through basketball camps focused on Cooper's five Ds - Determination, Dedication, Desire, Discipline & Decision-making. Our mission is to provide a supportive environment where young people can develop perseverance, achieve their goals, & learn to make wise choices on & off the court. Coop's Basketball Foundation is dedicated to positively impacting our community through outreach initiatives and partnerships to create a supportive environment that encourages youth to thrive academically and athletically.
History
Michael Cooper, former Los Angeles Lakers, is known for his coaching and defensive skills. For the past 40 years, he has run successful basketball camps focused on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. These camps typically cater to young players between the ages of 5 and 16 and emphasize both fundamental skills and advanced techniques.
Not All Camps are the Same
Cooper is the only person to win a championship, as either a coach or a player, in the NBA, WNBA, and the NBA D-League. He has held over 100 camps around the United States and internationally, coached on all levels, including high school, elite AAU teams, college, and professionally, and has an amazing ability to communicate and relate to both girls and boys. He is also actively involved with the Los Angeles Lakers and the basketball community worldwide.
